ABOUT THE BRAND
In India, Baraamda (veranda/porch in English) is frequently used as a place for relaxation, socializing, or simply enjoying the outdoors. It is a liminal space that embodies India’s culture of hospitality – where stories are shared over a cup of chai, or where neighbours gather when there’s a power cut, or simply where the boundaries between households gracefully blur. In many ways, baraamda represents the Indian ethos itself : open, generous, and fundamentally communal – a physical manifestation of the belief that life is meant to be shared.
OUR STORY
Manu and Aastha – two childhood friends who’ve spent a lifetime growing up beside each other, swapping stories, sharing lunches, and finding beauty in the quiet corners of life. Theirs is a friendship built on warmth, fun, and a shared love for all things personal and thoughtful.
They come from homes filled with conversations, love (lots of it), and the comforting rhythm of everyday rituals – where stories were told over chai, fabrics carried memory, and every object had a soul. Those spaces shaped them, and that is what they keep returning to to draw inspiration from.
Aastha, true to her Piscean nature, is a dreamer. She’s always imagining, painting, and finding beauty in colour and softness. She brings a gentle perspective to everything she does, with a natural instinct for making things feel calm, thoughtful, and full of heart.
Manu, an ardent lover of words, notices the little things – the quiet details most people miss. A Cancerian, guided by emotion, always thinking deeply and feeling fully, she sees the world through her camera – not just to capture what’s there, but to hold on to what it makes her feel.
Together, they started Baraamda as a quiet homage to all that they’ve held dear – a celebration of friendship, Indian culture, and the beauty of things made slowly, with love. Like the spaces they grew up in, they hope this little corner feels warm, familiar, and is full of stories. Baraamda is their way of holding onto what’s personal and passing it on – through hand-embroidered pieces that feel like home.

PHILOSOPHY
Storytelling is a very personal thing. Each person remembers a story and hence, narrates it in a distinctive way. With each re-telling, the story paradoxically changes in the smallest yet biggest way. The emotion, intention, mood, purpose, everything changes subtly. So, can we say a story is likely to have a billion variations? So then, doesn’t it make each story special?
At the heart of our brand lies this very magic of storytelling. Stories are a marker of time, revealing how generations lived, loved, and dreamed. Personally, we believe our lifelong curiosity about the world was sparked by the bedtime tales we heard as kids.
Through Zardozi embroidery, we bring to life stories – heard, imagined, and hoped for. Rooted in old-school charm, our pieces blend sophistication with comfort. Each hand-embroidered illustration, enhanced with patchwork, is thoughtfully made and one-of-a-kind. Slight variations are part of the art – and its beauty.
